“Population, resource and environment” are three main themes that the human beings are facing currently. Seen from the modern environmental theory, a large part of the regional geological research object is just the content that the modern environment science needs to research. After more than 20 years’ reform and opening-up, the regional geological survey team actively throws itself into the national economic construction, follows the steps of the times and constantly explores the service areas of geological exploration. Our team has successively set up the ecological research institute and Geopark and Geoheritage Research Center, Sichuan, CHN, become a unit where the permanent office of Sichuan Tourism Geoscience Research Institute is located, actively carried out business cooperation with related departments of Sichuan Provincial Government, Sichuan Provincial Geological Environment Monitoring Station, various scenic areas like Jiuzhaigou Valley, Huanglong Temple, Yading and Gongga Mountain in Sichuan Province and ecological protection zones and completed more than ten scientific research projects, thereby enjoying a higher reputation among the peers within the province.
The projects completed mainly include the geological disaster survey in “Eighth Five-year” and “Ninth Five-year” regional geological survey maps as well as the environmental geological, hydrogeological and hazardous geological survey of Jiuzhaigou Huanglong Scenic Area, Daocheng Yading Scenic Area and Mount Siguniang Scenic Area, etc.
The scientific research results include the Ecological Geological Survey Report on Regional Geological Survey Maps in Jiuzhaigou, Zechawa, Hongxingyan and Huanglong (1:50,000), the Geological Survey and Evaluation Report on Ecological Environment of Mount Siguniang, the Research on Survey and Evaluation of Tourism Resources in Yading Village, Daocheng County, the Feasibility Study on Survey and Development of Geothermal Resources in Daocheng County, the Formation and Evolution of Water Environment Characteristics and Travertine in Songpan Mounigou Scenic Spot, the Research on Evolution Trend of Landscape and Geological Environment in Jiuzhaigou Valley, the Research on Construction Planning of Sichuan Hailuogou National Geopark, the Research on Overall Planning of Sichuan Ecological Function Conservation Area, the Environmental Impact Report on Overall Planning of Mineral Resources in Chengdu City, the Overall Planning for Tourism Development in Mianzhu City, Sichuan Province (2002-2015), the Overall Planning for Tourism Development in Yingjing County, Sichuan Province (2002-2015), the Research on Geology and Water Circulation System of Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong World Heritage Site (this project won the science and technology progress award issued by Sichuan Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources), the Research on Overall Planning for Protection of Geological Relics and Development and Construction of Geoparks in Sichuan Province (this project won the third prize of science and technology progress in Sichuan Province, and the innovation and advancement of its results lie in the provision of theoretical foundation and decision-making basis for the protection of geological relics and the development and construction of geoparks in Sichuan Province and the provision of operation guidance for the protection of geological relics and ecological environment and the development and utilization of tourism resources in Sichuan Province) and the Overall Planning of Sichuan Gongga Mountain National Scenic Spot (this project won the third prize of excellent urban planning and design issued by Shaanxi Provincial Urban and Rural Planning and Design Institute in 2004).
The regional geological team is one of the first national units that carry out the construction application works for the planning of geopark and the main drafting unit of Construction Technical Requirements and Working Guide of China National Geopark, and our project result quality, scientific research level and application success rate take a leading position in the domestic same industry.
In recent years, our team completed more than 20 construction application works for the planning of national and provincial geoparks, mainly including the interim assessment report of China Xingwen Global Geopark and the successful application for such national, provincial, municipal geoparks as Sichuan Dadu River Valley National Geopark, Sichuan Hailuo Valley Glacier Hotspring National Geopark, Sichuan Anxian Sponge Reef-Karst National Geopark, Sichuan Provincial Huaying Mountain Geopark of Structural Karst, Sichuan Jiuzhaigou National Geopark, Sichuan Huanglong National Geopark, Sichuan Xingwen Karst Geopark, Xinjiang Kanas National Geopark, Chongqing Wulong Karst National Geopark, Chongqing National Geopark of Qianjiang Xiaonanhai Earthquake Ruins, Tibet Linzhi Yigong National Geopark, Sichuan Mount Siguniang National Geopark, Sichuan Provincial Leibo Horse Lake Geopark, Xinjiang Fuyun Koktokay National Geopark and Chongqing Municipal Geopark of Fengjie Doline and Geosuture. Currently, our team is carrying out the application work for Xinjiang Kanas World Geopark, Xinjiang Koktokay World Geopark and Qinghai Mount Kunlun Global Geopark.
