Brief Introduction to the Center


In 2001, in response to the UNESCO’s "Global Geoparks Network" plan and the national geoparks action plan of Ministry of Land and Resources of PRC, under the advocacy of Mr. Luo Yaonan the winner of Li Siguang Geological Science Prize and the general engineer of former Sichuan Bureau of Geology & Mineral Resources, based on Regional Geological Survey Team, Sichuan Bureau of Geology & Mineral Resources established a China's first research institution specialized in the investigation, evaluation development and construction of geoparks——Sichuan Geopark and Geological Relics Survey and Assessment Center.

Since its founding ten years ago, the Center has accomplished the investigation, evaluation, planning, design and construction of lots of world-class, national-class and provincial-class geological relics and geoparks in Sichuan, Chongqing, Xinjiang, Tibet, Yunnan, Zhejiang, Qinghai, Hebei, Guangdong, etc., presided and participated in some important subjects such as Technical Requirements and Working Guide for Construction of China National Geopark (2002), Overall Planning of Sichuan Province Geological Relic Protection and Geopark Development Construction (2003) (Third Prize in Science and Technology Progress Award of Sichuan), Exhibition Project of Sichuan Science & Technology Museum Jiuzhai-Huanglong Exhibition Area (2007), Technical Requirements of China National Geopark Planning Formulation (2010) and Key Geological Relic Investigation of China (2010), and provided important technological supports and demonstration and application platforms for the development of tourism geology and the preparation and study of geopark and geological relic industry codes. The Center is an important force within this field and it made contributions to the protection and construction of geological relic and sustainable development of geopark in western China.

The Center with strong strength, mature technology and full comprehensive disciplines, now has existing 5 professor-level senior engineers, 32 senior engineers, 8 doctors, 12 masters, and 2 experts awarded with special government allowances.

The Center focuses on implementing the survey, evaluation, planning, design and construction works for geoparks and geological relics, and always provides services for the geological relic protection and the geoparks development & construction.

Service scope

Investigation, evaluation, reporting, planning and construction of geoparks and mine parks;

Design and construction of museum, identification interpretation system and landscape engineering;

Investigation, evaluation, planning and scientific research of geological relics.
